The karate program at Stone Ridge School began 1995 when Shihandai Cathy Melanson started an after school class for the upper school. Since then the Dojo has grown to include the lower school as well. Shihandai Gary Reburn now teaches both schools. In 2001 the Dojo produced its first Shodan candidate and hopes for many more.

Directions to Stone Ridge:
From the west on the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 34 (Rt. 355), "Bethesda," South. Turn left at the second light onto Cedar Lane. Turn right into the school.
From the east on the Beltway (I-495 or I-95), take Exit 33, "Connecticut Avenue-Kensington," (Rt. 185) North. Turn left at the first light onto Beach Drive. Turn left at the next light onto Cedar Lane, and left again into the school.
From downtown Washington, take Wisconsin Avenue (Rt. 355) North, through Bethesda. Turn right into Stone Ridge immediately after the National Naval Medical Center (Bethesda Navy Hospital).
By Metro, take or transfer to the Red Line, and exit at the "Medical Center" Station.
