Contact Information and Instructor:

The main instructor at the Bethesda Dojo is Nicolae Toma.
Nicolae Toma's passion for karate began at an early age, but living under communism in Romania made training difficult. Sempai Toma began his studies at age 15 under Sensei Sorin Popescu and was three-time Romanian karate champion (1991, 1992, and 1993) and won second place at the "Virginia Sabaki Challenge" Karate contest in 2005, as well as at the USERKC-TKA Tournament USA 2005. He taught karate and defense methods at the Romanian Police Academy. Nicolae Toma has over 15 years of experience teaching karate to children and adults of all ages and levels.

Sempai Toma studied business management in Romania and has trained in stuntwork, having appeared in eleven best-seller films. He also directed a security management company.

In his free time, Sempai Toma enjoys skiing, swimming, tennis, and reading.
